Jamie Lee Hall Memorial Scholarship

Many of my clients knew 18 year-old Jamie Lee Hall. Jamie was one of my best employees and had achieved considerable forestry knowledge and skill for her young age. She was an excellent, budding forest technician about to embark on a forestry career that she was very excited about. Her enthusiasm for forestry and for learning was only surpassed by her pleasant, beaming personality. Jamie was working on her forest technician degree at Allegany College in Cumberland, and was killed in a traffic accident in October 2002 while swerving to avoid a school bus stopped on a foggy mountain road.

If you knew Jamie, hers was a personality you will never forget. She was loved by everyone lucky enough to know her. Everyone she touched was impressed by her enthusiasm, love of forestry, and by her cheerful spirit.

TimberLand Consulting has started an endowment fund to provide a perpetual scholarship to forestry students at Allegany College in Jamies memory.

Jim Howell, her Dendrology and Forest Ecology professor at Allegany College, said Jamie Hall was one of the most pleasant, cooperative, and open students I have ever had in my classes. She always gave 110% in my classes and as a result served as an excellent role model for other students. Students like Jamie do not come around very often. We will all miss her, but we will remember her as one of the premiere examples of both a good person and a superior student.

A benefit concert is planned in the spring to help raise money for the scholarship. For more information on concert tickets and dates, contact Steve Resh at the Allegany College forestry department (301) 784-5307.

A total of $10,000 is needed for a perpetual scholarship. Although we have a good start, it is essential that other contributors respond. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to Jamies memorial scholarship and help other students overcome obstacles like Jamie did, to achieve the goal she was cut off from.

Gifts should be donated to the Jamie Lee Hall Memorial Scholarship, Allegany College Foundation, 12401 Willowbrook Rd. Cumberland MD 21502-9981.
